California resident Dr. David Shawa has led an extensive career in the medical field. Board-certified in Pain Management and Anesthesiology, Dr. David Shawa currently holds hospital privileges with the Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance and the Torrance Memorial Medical Center, Los Angeles’ first hospital in the South Bay region. Dr. David Shawa pursued his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Newberg, Oregon-based George Fox University (GFU). After graduating summa cum laude, Dr. David Shawa attended the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center, which is now known as the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). With his Doctor of Medicine, Dr. David Shawa moved to Louisiana, where he successfully completed an anesthesiology residency and internship at New Orleans’ Ochsner Health Center. Today, patients in need of relief from pain caused by injuries or diseases turn to Qualified Medical Examiner (QME) and Medical Director Dr. David Shawa at SHARP Treatment of South Bay. Dr. David Shawa works to diagnose and treat several complex pain syndromes, from arthritis and fibromyalgia to chronic fatigue and osteoporosis. Performing procedures such as trigger point injections and radiofrequency denervation at SHARP’s state-of-the-art facility, Dr. David Shawa wields significant familiarity with the modern science of pain management. Prior to joining the experienced doctors and medical staff at SHARP’s Torrance location, Dr. David Shawa served in Metairie, Louisiana as East Jefferson General Hospital’s Chairman of the Anesthesia Department. In addition to his educational and professional accomplishments, Dr. David Shawa remains active in the medical community, holding memberships with the American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM) and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP), a nonprofit organization supporting those dedicated to improving pain management services across the nation.
